Among non-domestic animals, bees, wasps, and hornets present the greatest danger to humans. In a report published by the Wilderness Medical Society on animal related fatalities, most people are not killed by wild animals (dogs, cattle, and horses are much more dangerous), however of those who are, deaths attributable to Hymenoptera (hornets, wasps, and bees) account for 29.7% of the overall animal related fatalities and have been steady over the last 20 years. The studies focus was on data regarding animal related fatalities between 2008 and 2015. The study states that there were 1,610 mortalities that were a consequence of bite, contact, attack, or envenomation. Of these deadly encounters, 478 of them were fatalities from hornets, wasps, and bees. So while spiders creep us out, and some do have deadly potential, you are much more likely to be killed by a bee.
