Spring has sprung and with the warmer weather comes the need to be out in it. With people taking advantage of the sunshine and cool breezes the opportunity for pesky bugs to stow away in luggage and hotel rooms increases.
The following are a few helpful tips to keep you and yours focused on the fun this spring season.
- When outside reapply bug spray as often as necessary. While some outdoor activities require covering the most skin to prevent insect bites, when opting for more rays it is important to follow the directions on bug repellant to keep the bugs at bay. While polka dots can be fashionable in some circumstances, insect bites do not “go” with your newly acquired tan.
- Check your lodging for unwanted guests. A few extra minutes to check your accommodations for bed bugs can save you a world of trouble and financial woe in the future. Be sure to check mattress linings, headboards and other wardrobes before settling in for your stay. If you are unsure about the quality of your room, it is easier to leave before you get unpacked than after you find a pesky “friend” in your bed.
- Do your laundry! The last thing most of us want to do upon return from a trip is laundry; however, this last step can make the difference between a successful trip and a future terminator bill. Washing and drying clothing in high heat can help kill off insects who might have crept into your luggage unawares and vacuuming luggage can fend off insect eggs from hatching into your home.
